The book was very good. I enjoyed it. However the character of Alex really grated on me. She was so flippant and uncaring. I really disliked her, I think there was things the author could have gone into more. At times it felt rushed and did not flow with a fluidity.

This is my second Melissa Hill novel. I did enjoy it but the Alex character wasted it for me.

Enjoyed this. Predictable but nice and easy to read.

Favourite ever book. So much love for it, the plot, the characters, the romance and the unexpectedness that follow :) have recommended it to several friends and they have all loved it as well.

I shouldn't have read the synopsis of this book before I started reading, because I was expecting it to be only Leonie's story and the letters she finds in her new home. But when Alex's point of view was introduced, I was confused as to the relevance of the character. For chapters, I couldn't wrap my mind around why it wasn't mentioned Alex was a protagonist of this book too and it messed up my opinion of the book.

Though I started to like Alex a little as the story moved on, I started to seriously dislike every other character (except Jon and Marcy) 'cause the grated my nerves. When I reached half of the story, I just kept wishing it to get over already. I couldn't stand Leonie, Seth and Adam. It made the book very long. I even contemplated leaving the book unfinished.

However, I have to admit that Hill's writing style is good. Maybe if I hadn't read the synopsis first, I wouldn't have made an opinion already and would have read it with an open mind. But I just couldn't. I was just so frustrated by the end of it, 'cause
Spoilerit wasn't Leonie's fault that she wanted Adam to know the truth. What else should she have done? Let him believe Suzanne was his daughter and let Andrea loot him even after she gets married to Adam? And Seth! Damn, I seriously wanted to murder him for the way he annoyed Alex . But I guess they too get back together even after the divorce. I also hated how Leonie kept taking Seth's side. I understood that in the end it is explained that she felt a kind of kinship as her situation was similar to Seth's but in my opinion, it never was! She had done nothing but tell the truth and though it hurt Adam, she shouldn't have blamed herself for his sadness. She just wanted the best for their marriage but she let Adam paint her to be the villain in that situation. However, I'm happy for how it turned out for Helena and Nathan.

Seriously, not very impressed, but I accept I was at fault too, judging the book before I read it, that's the only reason for 3 stars, or else I'd have given it even lesser.

Leonie abruptly moves from Ireland to California after a very bad break up.
Shortly after moving into her new home, she finds a collection of letters in a box in the closet. The letters are all unopened, all addressed to Helena.

Leonie doesn’t exactly plan to read letters. But one day she’s opening her own mail and she accidentally opens a new letter addressed to Helena.

She feels compelled to find Helena after reading the letter. It’s a heartfelt plea for forgiveness from a man named Nathan.
Leonie doesn’t know what Nathan did but she feels sure that Helena should forgive him.

Alex works at a tv station. She meets Leonie because Leonie works at the florist and has a delivery for Alex.
When the flowers are signed “anonymous” Alex is quick to assume they are from her ex. She’s been trying to find the guy for a year, since she filed for divorce and he can’t be located to sign the papers.

Alex and Leonie become fast friends and they join together in trying to locate Helena and Nathan.

Honestly, I wasn’t a big fan of Helena. She was so quick to assume the mysterious Helena should forgive Nathan without knowing a thing about their story. She was also super quick to encourage Alex to take back her ex despite Alex’s claims that he cheated on her.

I guess once you know more about Leonie’s story it makes more sense why she was so quick to promote reconciliation. But even after all was said and done, I just didn’t like her much.

Also, a heads up that there’s a bunch of typos in this book and the page count isn’t clear on the ebook. It said I had two hours left in the book and I realized after reading the epilogue that the remainder was a preview for another book.
If I read a physical book, I always flip ahead to see where the book actually ends. It’s no one’s fault that it’s less clear in the ebook. I just want to give the next person a heads up. I like to know how much I have left in a book and I’m sure I’m not the only one :)

Generally I love this author’s stories. I won’t hesitate to grab her books in the future. This particular one just doesn’t work for me.

Recomendo vivamente a leitura!

I loved this book. Throughout it you're so curious to find out what happened to Leonie and what happened for her to leave Adam; what happened between Alex and her ex husband and most importantly why did Nathan want forgiveness? What had he done?

You're gripped throughout the book dying to know the answers to these questions and the answers don't disappoint. However I was shocked that Leonie left for that reason as it didn't really make that much sense, she didn't hate Adam for something he'd done or anything it was just... Strange, but it was a little sad and shocking. It was also kind of difficult to understand why Nathan was so desperate for forgiveness at first but then you realise what he did and how much that would have hurt his love.

I throughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be buying another Melissa Hill in the future.
