Not giving any rating as this is an anthology of short stories and not all the stories have the same level of quality. But if you want a first peek into Scottish folk tales across the different regions of Scotland, I recommend it. Very interesting on a cultural and historical scale.

It’s a strange compilation of stories. Some are fun, really sweet, or have a moral to share. Some are entirely forgettable. And then there are the disgustingly offensive ones.

My favourites: The Urisk of Moness Burn, The Harper of Lochbuie, Mallie and the Trow, The Witch of Fife, Wee Short-Hoggers of Whittinghame

These I could’ve done without: Unlikely Auction, The Puddock

A fun collection of folktales. It was nice to see which stories are prevalent in the different areas of the country.
