There were parts where I was genuinely creeped out. I didn't know how it was going to end, but I sure as hell didn't expect what I got. Good way to start off the spooky season!
I really enjoyed this creepy little book! It was my first read by Ania Ahlborn, but definitely won’t be my last. Despite its shorter length, the characters and atmosphere were so well written that I was completely hooked the whole way through.
It was a fast read, but does that mean it was good? Not so much. The story and characters lacked depth. Unfortunately you could watch any modern movie about demonic possession and get the same thing this book offers.
If you were as disappointed in A Head Full of Ghosts as I was, this possession story will more than make up for it. The beginning was engaging and then it certainly had a dip, but picked up with an ending only Ania Ahlborn could whip out.
Jack not being able to act rationally or help his family is * the point. * He is also possessed. And I thought that was a very interesting way to showcase the control Mr. Scratch still has over his victims.
And that ending. Horrifying. No one captures dying a painful death quite like Ania Ahlborn, it's almost panic-inducing.
