The progression of uncovering Jack’s past was both satisfying and rewarding. I felt like I hit a brick wall after the first scene with how fast is started compared to the pace of the story after. The paranormal actions never felt forced and excellently timed. Great for any thriller/paranormal reader.

Every time I read Ania Ahlborn I get totally sucked in - the stories are tense, spooky and weird as Hell - but by the end I'm always like "Oh. Okay." I mean this won't be the last one I read but goddamn are the endings to these things disappointing.

Official rating is 3.5. Overall, I liked this book. I don’t want to read it again, but I’m glad I read it. Loads of arm-hair raising moments which I loved. The character development wasn’t great. However, the scene building which caused so many chills was done very well. The focus in this book wasn’t on gore but on getting that visceral reaction from the reader which I think Ahlborn did a fantastic job in achieving.

This is my third Ania Ahlborn novel. I’ve liked all three. I’m sure I’ll pick up another; she’s well on her way to being an automatic read.
