I found the plot and the characters generally uninteresting. There was no emotional intimacy between them, just lust.

Alien abduction and rescue by hunky aliens is a popular trope. Anna Carven's starts out predictably with dangerous but hot aliens invading, and takes a nice little spin with addition of carnivorous alien monsters. It is clear when reading that this 'novel' started as a serial, the author's writing and characters becoming more developed as the book goes on. The primary characters - Tarak and Chloe are interesting and fun, the secondary characters mostly exist to move along the main story. A fast, fun read, it is a stand alone with additional books associated with other 'Dark Planet' Warriors. I picked this up on 'Amazon Prime Reading' and might read another at some point, but wasn't so enthralled I felt the need to immediately get the next book.

Started soo good, but then it turned into mediocre writing that I could have but did not push through until the end

This is the second time I've read a book where the FMC asks if MMC if he is going to rape her and he answers with something cryptic that doesn't translate into a resounding "No! Absolutely not! I would never! Please tell me what gave you that imporession so that I can remedy it!"

The answer in this book was "I can't derive pleasure unless my partner is willing" or something along those lines. While it does say "I wouldn't get any sexual pleasure out of it", that is not the same as a "No", nor is it the same as not getting any pleasure out of it, and who knows what kind of pleasure a rapist gets anyway.

These kinds of blurred lines, because when he hugs her with a boner to warm her up she's into it, bother me. Listening to it audiobook form lessens the ick slightly, but not enough to continue reading.

Where Ice Planet Barbarians was more erotica than anything, this had a solid plot and world building with politics. I thought it was very well done and definitely worth the read. The guy narrator had a weird voice. I think i would have enjoyed reading it more than listening to the audio book.
