This was gorgeously gory, sensationally sensual, utterly, utterly brilliant. I was hooked the whole way through this was creepy and visceral and absolutely beautiful. I love love love sapphic horror when it’s written like THIS.
I liked the writing and the weirdness and the creepiness but some of the stories were just absolutely things I didn’t want to read about . At heart.
So, my rating is mostly for the art of writing and not the stories.

An absolutely gorgeous collection of horror and myth inspired short stories. I saved this book for months so I could read it for my birthday and it did not disappoint. Each world created was so beautifully developed in such short time, just masterfully done.

I really liked how each short story has a different tone and style and that the main characters were all very unique and distinct. And they each had their own genre (magical realism, fantasy, dystopian, mythic, ..), while all being horror-adjacent, which is really just the best genre compination. But they all feature lesbian love stories (well, except the interlude for obvious reasons) and the all are heart-breaking in their own way and they all feel like the author is working through something. It makes the whole collection feel connected and coherent.
"The summoning" was the most fun to read and I loved the development of the MC through it. The set up of "Only corpses stay" was super intersting and I have so many quesion about the setting. "Rath" felt very nostalgic to me. And "Saying it's name breaks it" was so tragic. The most horrific one to me was "The carrier".
