the bronx has seen tons of sudden disappearances over the past year. raquel does her best to ignore them, but can’t once her crush’s cousin goes missing and she decides to help her. also, raquel’s mom comes down with a strange illness that is seemingly connected to the disappearances. raquel and her crush, charlize, soon discover that the disappearances and illness are connected to an urban legend called the echo game, and to save the people they love, they must play.
one thing i love about the horror genre is when real-world monstrosities are linked to supernatural ones, which this book did very well. i’ve never been to new york and i don’t know much about its history, but i learned a lot in this book! anyway, i highly recommend to anyone looking for a great ya horror read!

Wow. This book took me for a wild ride. I can't say I enjoyed all of it, but I did learn things about the Bronx that I didn't know before. It's probably more of a 3.5 rating than a 3. If your into YA horror/distopia/adventure stories, then it might rate even higher for you.
The idea of the game and the Echo were very cool. I really liked the world-building around it. I wasn't a huge fan of the formatting of the story, it kept losing me for some reason. But the story was a good one. I'd be very into reading other Echo stories set in other countries. This would make a wild Japanese drama.

This book was very fast paced and non-stop action. The idea of the Echo Game was very creepy, especially since it revolved around a real event that happened in the Bronx history. There is a sweet sapphic romance and a great friendship. Overall, I really enjoyed this story!

This was a unique storyline that I actually found quite engaging to read and I couldn’t put it down. The writing style could’ve been worked a bit better however, I did like the inclusion of queer characters as an MC and SC! Furthermore, the book was further diverse in terms of multiculturalism as well. Overall, I quite liked this YA thriller/horror novel!
