I don’t like horror but this was a great book. There was a lot of action and the history of the Bronx was interesting.

This is really a 3.5 books. I appreciated the history lesson on the Bronx and the homage to the author’s home. Love the friendships and confusing relationship status, those seemed authentic. The Slumlord was creepy along with the murderous centipede. So many scary things happen in subway tunnels that it makes me happy not to have to worry about them where I live. I also appreciate the resguardos as idol of protection from evil. Lots of action here and I think this will be picked up often.

I so wanted to like this one. The premise sounded great for my students, but the story lacked so much. I found the dialogue unrelatable and sometimes odd. The storyline was strange and I found myself looking forward to finishing it as soon as I was one third into it. By the end, I was relieved it was over.

I really love how the author weaved history into a really interesting horror story and made it believable!
