"you and i are going to change the world."

this series is one of my biggest comfort reads, and probably one of my favourite series, especially now the show is out. i just love all of the characters. it feels like a home.

This book was okay but I did not like the main character at all so I had a hard time rooting for her. Her only thoughts were either about guys or about not fitting in wherever she was which I felt was really annoying because she did very well. The world-building was done and I might continue the series just to see maybe some better characters in the future.

I have very mixed feelings about this series. I love the world it's set in and most of the plot (specifically the first book), but the characters just fall short. They are all very one-sided and are difficult to connect to... except for Nikolai. I absolutely adore Nikolai. He was such a necessary part of the second book because parts of it were so painfully slow and he was the only reason I was interested in reading it. The third book was very good plot-wise as well. And there was a lot more going on than there was in the second book. But (spoiler) I really didn't like the way it ended.

The story itself is pretty straightforward, wasn't too surprised by the twist reveals, personally, but I liked the characters and the magic system and the writing style itself, so it was a nice relaxing read.  I don't think this book or series will become a lasting favorite of mine, but I enjoyed reading it, and I've got the next book on hold already.

This was a super fun and exciting read! I was very wrapped up in it, and I can't wait to read the next book.
