The extent of my Astro Boy knowledge is from the 2003 anime. Which did include the story arc that is the premise of Pluto. So I do already know the gist of the plot and the characters involved. But the way it is presented. How the story is retold as a crime noir with a touch of realism gave what was a simple story of super robots fighting levels of depth and intrigue.
very intersting story and very catchy too, I found myself enjoying everybit of it. can't wait to read more
Everything I've read by Urasawa-sensei is gold. He is amazing.
This is a more mature (as in adult-oriented, not sexually graphic or violent) take on an Astro Boy story. Bloody robots hitting you in the feels.
It all begins with the death of the world's most beloved robot. It's supposedly an accident, but someone is actually going around murdering robots. And Detective Gesicht--also a robot--is on the case.

das ist einfach so eine schöne story. einfach die idee die da hinter steckt ist genial und hat mich paar mal an manchen stellen zum weinen gebracht !!! ♥♥♥
I was really enjoying this, up until the rather abrupt ending. Guess that's a ploy to get me to read the next one!
This was my first manga, and getting used to reading "backwards" from my usual orientation was a bit of a challenge, particularly with the use of ellipses as end punctuation in many of the conversations (which made it difficult to determine which way the text was supposed to flow; and there seemed to be a few inconsistencies early in the book as to which way the text boxes were meant to be read). Overall, though, this was a very interesting story that brought a bit of nuance to the fantastical world of robots. Unfortunately, my library does not carry the next volumes of this story, which leaves me with a major case of "cliffhanger-itis". I'm hoping to convince them to pick up the next volumes soon!
Soo good, that you turn each page fully immersed, savoring each and every panel, the dialogue, the emotions till the last. Something is attacking and killing the great robots of the world, one by one and it's up to another robot, a police detective and himself one among the greats, to track down the killer. I really don't have the right vocabulary or the narrative prowess to review this work. Do read it if you love Asimov's robot story scenarios where interactions between robots and humans ultimately help us realize the fragility of our definitions of the 'human'.
