In A Lonely Place is about a man who hates women, but also, in a way, it’s much more about the women he endangers. I thought it was actually interesting to read this story from the perspective of the misogynistic killer because the author does make it very clear that his perspective is so skewed and limited and fucked up. Love to see sexism get actually condemned in a book. Overall, I thought it was entertaining and the vibes were very gloomy and foggy, which was fun!

Great mid century noir, written by a woman. Best part, misogyny isn't an accessory everyone in the book wears, it's a character flaw.

This is the first I've ever read from Dorothy Hughes and I see myself reading more. The writing was engaging and breezy. For being crime fiction, the crimes weren't presented in a salacious way. It's interested to get into the mind of a killer and to have that more psychological perspective.
