Gothic vibes without being paranormal and a good mystery. I also enjoyed that this was a lighter dark romance- great for those who tend to like romantasy or aren't into the heavier side of the dark romances

The yearning and tension was 🔥 but thee first 60% felt so long and the last 40% felt so rushed I wish there had been a bit more balance around that but overall I loved the book and I love Keri Lake.

“The heart is a dangerous organ that isn’t meant to be free. Why else would God have built a cage for it?”

Yet again I am doing an ONLY English book review, but I need more words to describe what I just finished reading than what I could use with two separate languages. So use the translation part if English is not understandable enough ;)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Firstly I want to warn you that MASTER OF SALT AND BONES was not a fantasy book nor it was fully romance. Although it is described as a full length, dark suspenseful romance read. Honestly, it had some romantic elements in it but mainly it was a psychological survival story of a broken man who had lost everything in life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The author Keri Lake was new to me but after reading this book, I will definitely get familiar with her other production too. By the way, it was the beautiful cover of this book that caught my eye in the first place when I found it from Amazon.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The story is written in 'Dual perspectives' and I could emphasise with both main characters. The "memories" from the past gave good spices to the story while the starting point with a young lady and an older man was not very original.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Overall I liked the story, it had good dark elements and an intriguing backstory but the romance did not work for me. It wasn't dark enough to be special or soft enough to be a 'feel good' book. This time this middle way didn't work and I ended up giving only three stars in Goodreads.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This might be a good book if you are a fan of regular romance and want to dip your toe in the darker side of the world. But notice, it is not an erotic story, nor it is intended to be like that (I assume). I suppose this is meant to be read as a romantic thriller cause it had that kind of Gothic and Dark vibe in it.

4.5 amazing stars! This story definitely fit the creepy, mystery vibe I was going for, with all the sexual tension I needed!

Isadora is more than your typical unique girl who loves to read and is an outcast amongst her peers. She has a darker, seedier underbelly than even she knows. And the only person who can see her for exactly who she is and still want her, is the devil himself. The Devil of Bonesalt.

Lucian Blackthorne is mystery and intrigue, scars and pain, sexy and sinister all at once. His character was the most dynamic and captivating to me. His past and his present held so many questions that the author only ever doles out in tiny spoonfuls and I ate it up.

I’m thrilled to read more by Keri Lake!
