After reading and loving Nocticadia by this author I wanted to try another of her books and this did not disappoint. Bonus chapters are must if you want more closure on the story.

I’m not going to lie, I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! 🤭 This is the first dark romance I’ve read in a while, and I absolutely adored it!

It took me a little time to get into the book and understand the characters, but once I got into it, I was hocked! This was definitely a slow burn and worth every single second of it! There’s so much mystery in this book and I loved seeing where the story was going as well as how some of the mysteries unfolded. I also really enjoyed the flashbacks and how they were integrated in this book as it really helped get a fuller picture of the characters and their histories.

This book had so much gothic dark vibes which I absolutely adored! It added so much to the story, and I was able to see the old castle clearly, and the way the author wrote both the setting and the characters were incredible! I was so invested in these characters and I just wanted to know what would happen next in this story! Isadora was an okay character, bot my favorite but she was really relatable and I loved how brave and how strong she was despite everything that she’s been through. And Lucian was the perfect morally grey hero and I loved learning more about him and to see his true colours appear!

As I haven’t read too much dark romance, I will say I quite enjoyed this book! The age gap was so well done and I thought Isa and Lucian worked really well together; just two broken and lonely people who found each other! The angst and tension between them was perfect (this book truly felt like a slow burn!), and I also really liked all the spice and all the “forbidden” elements that were included in this book!

Overall, this was such a perfect book for spooky season, and I think the best way to describe this book is a mix between phantom of the opera/beautify and the beast vibes? The dark vibes, the morally grey hero and the mystery within the story made it such a perfect fall read!
