Having lived in Nebraska, this story combines the facts of the Kincaid act, inspiration from a real woman based near Chadron, Nebraska, and fiction. It's one of those "if you know, you know" sort of stories which adds a hidden layer to it. But it's likely lost to those who don't know Nebraska state history.
