For some reason, it really fits to have dogs portrayed as middle-aged men.

I have been following Matt Inman and The Oatmeal for sometime. His work always makes me laugh and this book was no exception. Matt completely nails how dogs behave and seem to think. Illustrating them as middle aged men added to the humor and the absurdity of the various situations. This book gave me a great chuckle and I enjoyed it.

Something about any books by the Oatmeal always make me smile. Dog are sweet, dogs are adorable but also not too bright. Love this book. Short read that made me happy
Cute. Fluff.
Also too real. My favorite small bit was them being woken up by the doorbell and going "murder?? MURDERRR!!" and then heart eyes at the delivery guy. I've seen my friends dog do this about 100 times since he's over so much. He's all bark and just wants cuddles.
Basically this is just a silly book of exactly what it says it is - imagining as if the writers dogs were middle-aged men - and it's adorable? I love dogs, possibly a unhealthy amount, so that might be why I read this and loved it so much. So if you, too, love dogs an unhealthy amount, or know someone who does, then this might be a good present.

From the always-hilarious creator of The Oatmeal, this book is a pleasant - if brief - romp through what life would be like if his two dogs were instead middle-aged men. Particularly easy to relate to if you have excitable dogs.
I love The Oatmeal. I'm not sure why his particular brand of humor gets me but it does. I'm also generally not one to laugh out loud at books but in this one's all too short duration, I laughed more than once. Not a single page was turned without at least a smile. For anyone who has a dog, I highly recommend this. If you don't own one, I'd still highly recommend it.

Yes, I'm on Netgalley reading a bunch of comic books/graphic novels that don't need pre-approval. IDK why as they have mostly been a mixed meh lot. For this one I like Oatmeal's work generally but find he can go extreme which I don't enjoy. This was funny but I would have actually liked it better if it was done with dogs, not men and the men aspect made it side into the extreme but don't like category.
Obviously, I got this for review on Netgalley (for free, for review, all that jazz including opinions are my own, you know the drill).

I loved Matthew Inman's 'My Dog: The Paradox: A Lovable Discourse about Man's Best Friend'. So I expected this one to be hilarious and heartwarming too. This one made me laugh occasionally, but I so wish this one had a heart.

Two things: First, it's from The Oatmeal's Matt Inman so it's not possible that it won't be funny (no matter what my cats say). Second, any frequent reader of The Oatmeal has seen these. Nevertheless, many a dog owner will enjoy them, and this is the perfect book for a cat lover to give a dog lover to help them reassess. 😉

Amusing, but I think I'd seen most of the comics before. Wish this was longer with more new material.
