The best one yet. I think this book is a masterclass in storytelling and I just absolutely love the emotions explored here.

There are many things I love about this book. I love that J.K. Rowling introduces new locations in the wizarding world, such as the Ministry of Magic and St. Mungo's Hospital, and renders them so vividly. The description of the Ministry of Magic offices is particularly phenomenal. I love the Dumbledore's Army storyline. And I love the flashback (technically Snape's memory) to when Harry's parents were in school. As with Prisoner of Azkaban, the Marauders fascinate me.

I also have a few complaints about it, which make it not one of my favorites in the series. The fight scene at the end runs too long, to the point that I'm almost too exhausted to care when the climactic death happens. Professor Umbridge is also hard to stomach. It takes a skillful writer to make a fictional character so absolutely irritating, but it takes its toll after hundreds upon hundreds of pages.
