I've read this in hard copy before, but picked it up as a deal from Audible, especially since it's read by Douglas Adams himself!

dirk is just as zany and eccentric as ever, and the plot is just as nonsensical as in the first book. adams’ writing is always sharp and hilarious. however, i do find myself missing the smaller scale mystery of the first book. and reg.
Had a great time with this but the ending kind of flops. It resolves in a way that feels too easy and yet still unfinished. Adams has a tendency to rush his ending in a just a few pages once he finishes setting up all his little pieces throughout the story and it's pretty much always jarring to me. The rest of this is so fun and creative though that it's hard to be too mad.

I really enjoy Douglas Adams' writing style. It flows neatly, it gives just the amount of description I need to know whats going on, and its bizarre in just the right way.
I will, though, admit that I dont really understand exactly what goes on in this book. Or, its perfectly obvious but its also not, which was the case with the first one in this series too.
That said, I really enjoy them. Theyre fun, theyre enjoyable and theyre very entertaining, and once in a while pose some questions thatll be stuck with you for a while after youre done reading.
One note is that this book contains norse gods and the narrator does not know how to do a nordic sounding or even Norwegian accent as it is said that they have and as a Norwegian, I found that took away some of the joy from the otherwise great narration.

This was not my favorite Douglas Adams book and I'm a big fan of his usually. Took me getting halfway through to be interested at all and even then it could have been better

It definitely drags on for a while, and is a little confused about itself and the story it's telling - or maybe I am. Not my cup of tea.
