A pretty good collection of creepy/spooky short stories. I loved the diversity these stories had; each one felt unique. Some of my favorites included:
Attic:
Good Morning, Georgia by Courtney Gould
5/5
I loved this story so much! Even though I could clearly see it coming, I loved the twist. This story kind of reminded me of the "San Junipero" episode from Black Mirror.
Second Floor:
The Grey Library by Nova Ren Suma
4/5
Creepy baby!
Second Floor:
Like Mother by Gina Chen
5/5
This was great! Kept me entertained and guessing. It was definitely a creepy story too!
Grounds:
A Helping Hand by Linsey Miller
5/5
This was creepy, suspenseful, and a great paced short story.

I wish I could rate all of the stories in this book separately because some were SO good but others either really dragged, didn’t make much sense, or just felt out of place.
Overall, the tone of this collection is very nice, I like the concept that the house is the same throughout all of the stories, and the stories taking place in different sections of the house worked really well. It tied most of the stories together very nicely and I enjoyed it a lot!
To me, the strongest of the stories were Good Morning Georgia, Me I’m Not, Like Mother, Bloom, and The Shoe. I really liked the stories where people were the real monsters, those were just incredibly interesting and intriguing!
There were a couple that just didn’t hit for me, and they were all close together which was kind of funny. I HATED The Grey Library, maybe just because I don’t think babies are scary? Also the weirdly “pretty” descriptions of an actual infant through me off. Mirror Mirror’s protagonist was just so annoying to me, I couldn’t root for her or feel bad for her. Smart Monster had an intriguing concept, but it didn’t fit in with the anthology’s theme, and the random robot girl really through me off.
Minus those, though, I really enjoyed the anthology and recommend it for horror enjoyers! There were a lot of stories that made me feel genuinely sick with dread, and the prose for all of the stories was absolutely beautiful!

Thank you NetGalley and Page Street Publishing for a copy of this book.
I really enjoyed these short stories! I loved how it took you through the house from beginning to end. All of the stories were very different and creepy in their own way. I enjoyed that there were some that had cultural references in them with their own scary stories. I also enjoyed the different cultural representation. I enjoyed that it was more ghost related and that the house always had something to do with it. A perfect October read!

The House Where Death Lives was an excellent way to kick off spooky season! The audiobook is absolutely extraordinary. I truly enjoyed each and every story in this horror anthology. Horror anthologies are my favorite way to experience the genre, and this book did not disappoint.
My top picks from the collection were The Grey Library, Smartmonster, and Bloom. I loved the diversity in the storytelling—some tales were downright terrifying, others gave me the creeps, and a few captured the raw emotion of pure rage personified. This balance of fear and emotion made the anthology stand out.
Overall, I highly recommend The House Where Death Lives to anyone looking for a mix of horror that taps into a range of emotions and chills.
