One of the better anthologies, though from my perspective, this one has greater value in how it contributes to the complexity of the politics in this universe and the Emperor's grand scheme for humanity... and how that imperial machine is trying to adapt during the heresy era.

Basically you won't get value out of this one unless you have invested an interest to get to book 37 in the series/lore.

There are some characters who are so protected and used so sparingly that I almost start to forget how great they are, but then when they appear again, it is so exciting and very rarely is ever a let down that it proves the right choices.

Malkador is one of these characters, even the slightest hint at what he may or may not be doing is exciting, and then when he does show up you can feel the presence through the pages (/audiobook)

One of the best short story collections in The Horus Heresy. It is very well focused and doesn't have a bad short story in the mix.
