Yay! I'm really enjoying this one! This is the story of two young boys (14) that decide to team up and become famous manga creators. As well as a strange but interesting romantic subplot.
I'm still not accustomed to the seemingly out of place over the top reactions by characters. They frequently make me wonder if I missed something or misunderstood something but I had that feeling far less often reading Bakuman than I did reading Ouran.
Volume One ends in an awesome cliffhanger, so I'm off to start volume two!

It's actually ' Bakumon ' ( there's a small ' o ' after the ' n ' ) It doesn't have a baku in it : (
Not all that informative ( except there's a difference between a g-pen a kabura pen and dip pens )

An interesting peek at how manga is actually made with two engaging characters at the centre of it. A major problem I had with it was something that was also present in Death Note - some very odd regressive gender politics.
Maybe when I read a review of this, I thought there would be more. But... a boy who can draw well, but thinks that the dream of writing/drawing manga is just a dream and he needs to be down to Earth. And... yep. That's the premise? I didn't finish the whole book, but that's because I couldn't feel this moving in any kind of interesting direction. Maybe I'll push through it some day and find out that he fights dragons, too- but this just wasn't enough to hold my interest.

I really enjoyed this read , and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books!
My first foray into the world of manga.
I liked the idea of it being a manga about manga, but I did find myself losing interest at certain slower points within the story. Still, this hasn't put me off, and I'd definitely try manga again.
