I like the espionage in this one and the SPECTRE introduction. The plot with stolen nukes is classic. Domino Vitali teeters on being a good Bond Girl and a sorta flat character. Didn’t love it but definitely entertaining
Fun story, once you get through the stereotypically 60's attitudes. Also, Ian Fleming seems to have known jack shit about diving.
Somewhere halfway in, the movie's theme song crept in my head and wouldn't leave (except during the climactic battle, when it was replaced with the ubiquitous battle music from the movies).
Enjoyable enough. The start is hilarious - M sends Bond to a health spa - and the plot is well laid out. Spectre seem more plausible and believable here that they do in the new movies and the plot moved along well enough. Strong female character in this one - which impressed me.
Some parts were needlessly long, the description sometimes overboard which left the end feeling oddly rushed.
Good overall but not my fave from the series.

Thunderball is one of the better plotted Bond books, introducing SPECTRE and Blofeld. Following a somewhat comedic opener with Bond sent off to a health spa, he teams up with Leiter on what they think is a waste of time to avert a nuclear tragedy. With the world held hostage we are treated to some actual espionage, numerous underwater action scenes and a thrilling race against the clock ending. Leiter is always fun, Domino is an interesting Bond girl who holds her own and Largo is a cold fish.
The negatives? Well, unfortunately with all the Bond books there is the hardcore misogyny, casual sexual violence, racism and xenophobia (though less than some of the other books). It was wrong then and it's wrong now. I've decided to finish the series for reasons but you can't escape these aspects if you read them.

Nice little plot.
A bit too technical in some places but I easily skimmed through those details.
