This was published in 1909. And yet it descibes modern society perfectly. The best thing I have read in a while.

The fact that this was written in 1909 is astounding. Excellent dystopian short story.

Interesting to read such a classic sci-fi story! It definitely inspired Hugh Howey's Silo/Wool series and I liked the take on the internet/communications as well! Always shocked by sci-fi predicting essentially current times.

On the surface, this seems like a fairly straightforward and typical dystopian cautionary tale, but if you consider it's original publication date, then this is a truly visionary story.
