The BBC pointed me in the direction of this book. Particularly interesting to read in the year 2020.

What others call prophecy, I call science fiction. I wonder how Forster envisioned this.

A profound and prescient science fiction novella, in turns sad and hopeful.

I read this years ago in an anthology and it stayed with me. Having read A Room With a View and Howard's End at school and not liking them much, I was struck with how different in tone this story is, but ultimately the theme is the same as that of Howard's End - mankind needs only "to connect" if it wishes to survive the age of the machines.

I absolutely love this short story, but I'm not near as big a fan of the audio. The narration just didn't work for me.

Forster would be incredibly dismayed if he were alive today.
* upped my rating to 4 stars because prescience should be rewarded.
