Forgot to update on this book.
Could not stop reading.
Short, engaging, great messages, stands the test of time. Simple but good.

Thank you, John Thornton.
But couldn’t you have cut them all loose?!

I hadn’t read this book in maybe 30 years but I remembered that I loved it, so I re-read it yesterday and was struck by how intense it is. One of my all-time favorite books.
I LOVED this book as a kid. I'm not even sure how many times I read it. This along with "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." Where my 2 favorite books. I attribute my love of reading to these 2 books.

I read this book in fourth grade, I think. One of the few that holds up into your thirties. Hadn't remembered the ending, and I'm glad.
This is a re-read for me, having first read it as a teenager, back in the 1970's. I'd almost forgotten how wonderfully written both this and "White Fang" are. If you're a lover of wild-life and/or of dogs, this short novel set around the time of the Klondike gold rush is an absolute must.
