Can we all say Anthropomorphism! The A-word was my first and foremost thought as I read this Jack London classic. Not since Watership Down have I felt the animals to be more human than the humans in a book. Bloody and brutal at times, but a quick, engaging read.
This book is great.Any animal lover will have pleasure in reading this.
Wow. This book is pretty brutal. It reminds me of Hatchett but for dogs- and way more violent. It was a shortened version we read too, can't imagine what the original is like! It isn't necessarily a bad thing....just unexpected and may not be of interest to some children. To be clear, my son has read a lot of books that are sad or involve death, but this was a whole other level.
I hadn't read this book since god knows when so I went for it. Good story, and I was thankful it had a happy ending.

A cute adventure about a dog who is suddenly confronted with the wilderness of nature and of men, with all its implications. The author has clearly a higher opinion of dogs rather than of women (or natives for that matter), which sets his admirable love for animals in a relative light.
