There's not much to say about Buck's story of going from pampered dog to wild thing except it's a story very well told. London makes a meal out of describing snow, ice, teeth, muscles, fur, exhaustion, joy, terror, and everything between while keeping the story fixed from a dog's point of view. I suspect this works even better as a serialized story, getting little adventures at a time, since from page 1 you know it's only a matter of time before Buck can leave humans behind and rediscover what his species has lost.

Miserable.
*the writing was incredibly beautiful, but the content and the storyline were very hard to enjoy. This book didn’t sugarcoat anything and got down to the details. My heart couldn’t take it.
