This was horrifying and I’m obsessed.

This book made me very anxious and should be read in a safe space but it's great. Lynda Lynda I love you.

Seriously dark and depressing story of a girl from the bad side of town fighting for herself on a scary treasure hunt. It's hard to take, but I couldn't stop reading it.

Fabulous, gritty, horrifying, and sadly, somewhat familiar.

I really liked this. Such a dark book with such hateful characters, but Roberta/Clyde is my kind of heroine. Just when you think it can't get darker...

This is definitely the best book I will read this year:

There are two kinds of dying for every single person. There is the moment when your personality dies, when the you of you drains away into the air, and then there is the part where your body dies, organ by organ. And then three days later there are the flies.

...

And Pammy had a little velvet bow clipped into her sad version of hair, and there were curling emissions of a perfume preceding her that did immediate combat with the fumes radiating off the trailer.

...

A huge glass table in a paramecium shape.

I loved it.

Review of Cruddy: Disgusting book. Sorry Lynda I love you but this one is a miss. The author is so obsessed with descriptions that she forgets plot and characters. The descriptions are excellent and I suppose they could make the reading experience worth it if you ignore the stated deficiencies. Very interesting turns of phrase and good ideas in the descriptions. But nothing is lifelike. I could not imagine any characters like this with these motivations. Statements made for shock value early in the book cannot be substantiated later. Random things happen. She tries to do a split narrative between old Roberta with “the father” and new Roberta with her new friends, leading up to the discovery of the money. But then nobody even cares about the money, there are no stakes. Just awful people, blood and killing. Why the killing? We don’t know. So I would say it’s ok as an exercise if Lynda wanted to see if she could write a novel, but this one she should have kept for her own therapy.

Reminiscent of last exit to Brooklyn

This book was too bloody for my sensibilities, but overall it's really well-written and the story is told from an interesting perspective. I recommend it to people who don't get grossed-out easily.
