Something about this story fascinates me. The pacing should have been way too slow for me since the majority of the book is spent in 3 locations and the romance is the tiniest bit confusing, since we don't see as much yearning from the years (maybe because don't have Tovens perspective?). That being said I genuinely really like this book and its writing. I liked the romance, and the story, and Brionys character. I'm excited for the sequel and I'm so interested on the hearsts family and what role they play in the story. There are certain dynamics that are confusing and I also don't know why the hearsts care so much about Briony (I thought that they were just good people) but the ending confused me as toven says he bought briony because shes the princess. Has serena seen something? Is it just because they don't support mallow? I'm curious where the plot goes next and I'm so happy the romance isn't fully developed in book 1, unlike every other romantasy where the couple is in love by the end of book 1 and I just wish it took more time and was a genuine slow burn. Overall, a good read :)

I didn’t know much about this book going into it besides that there was a lot of anticipation for it. It’s funny I didn’t even know it was a Dramione fanfic initially either until about halfway through when I started researching this book to see what the hype was for.

Ironically at the beginning of it I was thinking to myself this sounds a lot like a Dramione fanfic turned book LOL I couldn’t believe that I was spot on with that one.

Now back in the day I was obsessed with Dramione fanfics so I have no problem with it being a fanfic turned original story.

However, this wasn’t really it for me.

I knew after reading the warnings that this was a dark romantasy but still I was horrified throughout the book (especially that first half) and even nauseous at some of the scenes.

I kept reading hoping to get to the romance and just kept waiting and waiting and waiting for it and sadly it never really came? This is a slow burn but I’m still a bit disappointed with the very little we got rushed in the end.

Overall, the last chapter (epilogue) intrigued me the most. Not sure if I will continue with the series as the books come out yet.
