This book could have been half the size. Too much pining and miscommunication, not enough actual plot. The themes were quite dark but very slow paced. The main character was not likeable. She's meant to be very clever but just comes across as ignorant and sheltered. Would not recommend

This was SUCH A GOOD BOOK. Only drawback is that the slow burn is very slow. Cannot wait for book 2.

Am Anfang habe ich eine Weile gebraucht, um in die Geschichte, das Magiesystem und die ganze Welt überhaupt rein zu kommen.
Auch gab es ein paar Dinge, wo ich mir beim Lesen dann dachte "wtf geht denn jetzt ab?"(Auktion) . Es gab mehrere Szenen bei denen ich mal kurz schlucken musste oder selbst kurz angewidert war. Deshalb kann ich das Buch nicht soo gut bewerten.
Trotzdem fande ich es sehr spannend und es hat mich doch irgendwie sehr gefesselt. Und ich habe zwei Hauptcharaktere gemocht und freue mich jetzt schon auf die nächsten Bände, um zu erfahren wie es weiter geht.

First of all, CLIFFHANGER!!!
But I did truly enjoy this book, even with the darn cliffhanger. I can't wait for the rest of this trilogy. It's a great fantasy romance, with plenty of drama and just a tiny bit of spice. There were a few unlikable characters, but more that were likable. The world-building and character-building were done very well.
I am knocking off a 1/4 of a star for the darn cliffhanger part, without the next book being out yet.
