Reads just as if one was watching one of his documentaries.

4.5/5. He takes you on a wonderful journey around the many different habitats around the world, describing innumerable creatures and plants that I had no idea existed. He details so many amazing organisms that really show how amazing this world is. It does get a little tired at times with so many minute details, but overall it is a wonderful and quick read.

I want to give it 5stars because Attenborough is awesome, his use of language is awesome and the information is awesome (to some) and yet I give it 3stars because of my personal preference. If you love nature and are eager to learn the basics of life on earth from single celled organisms to more complex creatures, this is the book for you. I enjoyed learning some of it but a large chunk I simply could not enjoy no matter how hard I tried.

I downloaded this to give me something to listen to at night when I was too spooped to listen to my spoopy true crime book. It was perfect for that. Listening to David Attenborogh’s books is like watching Planet Earth, and surprisingly holds up even without the video element.
I was so into this that got up in the middle of the night to google photos of Mouse Deer vs Royale Antelope vs Aguti and I’m still shook.
