I'm really torn between giving this 3 or 4 stars, so let's just call it three and a half stars. There was a lot I loved about this book: the prose was elevated, which gave it a literary-fiction feel. The characters descriptions were hilarious, painting out the weird world Awad created. The Bunnies are truly some cutesy yet hellish alien species. However, the book was a bit heady for me as a lot of times I couldn't tell what was real or being imagined. I understand this is the POINT, but as a reader it made me frustrated. I feel like the horror element would have been amplified if Awad decided that everything Samantha was experiencing was real. I'd definitely read another one of her books, but I think my disgruntlement is what made me take so long to finish this book. For my first horror, a good one to read!

That was fucking weird. Reading it made me feel drunk and made the spot in between my shoulder blades itch. 305 pages of “I can’t tell what’s real.” 
I don’t know what to say about it. 4 stars because I’m scared that if I rate it lower the bunnies might come for me, too.
