I'm gradually adding books I've read in 2021 to give a true reflection of the books I've read since keeping records.  This was the first book I read in 2021, and is what kick started my reading journey having put reading on the back burner whilst bringing up the children, previously being an avid reader. The true story of Father Christmas. A lovely children's story, with the elves believing that impossible is a swear word and anything is possible with a bit of magic. A good old fashioned children's read. Lovely

This is such a beautiful imagining of the origins of Father Christmas. It has so many beautiful tiny details that explain certain traditions (right down to the name Father Christmas), which makes it all so satisfying and delightful.

Elfhelm is a fantastical place with loveable characters, there's a healthy amount of danger (and a touch of gore) to keep any child happy. It was joyful to read, and the final few chapters just kept piling on that happy festive feeling. I suspect A Boy Called Christmas has become part of my regular Christmas routine.
