The author is misogynistic and sexist throughout while claiming to have superior knowledge above those who have written before him. But if you are interested in learning about the wives of Henry VIII, this is a good book to start out with, though I recommend reading others as well.

Starkey is a tireless researcher and an excellent historian

But the jewel is that he can also write superbly and turn an excellent phrase.

It’s hard to imagine a work on the subject that will surpass this

For a non-fiction study of the wives of Henry VIII its a bit light and fluffy. Interesting topic but just a slight dusting of all the scandal and intrigue.

Probably too informative, but I enjoyed learning about Jane Seymour, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr
