4.5 stars. Man, Nellie has had it rough in this series! Poor girl but I loved the way this book ended. The way that Samantha was determined to get Nellie and her sisters out of that terrible orphanage was admirable. She's definitely up there as my favorite AG characters now. I loved every single book in this series.

I'm so glad that Nellie was brought back - Agnes and Agatha were fun, but they're definitely on the more clueless side of the social issues of that time, especially with class inequality.

I like reading stories about orphans, so this was a good book for me. It's about 9 year old Samantha, who helps her orphaned friend, Nellie,( and Nellie's younger sisters), escape from a terrible orphanage. But where will the three orphans hide?

I forgottttttt the happy ending! Yay!

Wow! The Samantha series really deals with some hard hitting topics, and it's all done in an age appropriate way. Really loved this whole collection of stories! Look forward to reading the Felicity and Kristen books.
