This book was beautiful and heartbreaking, but ultimately hopeful. It was a testament to those who survive the loss of a spouse and continue onward in life even when moving forward feels insurmountable. It is a contemporary romance, but deals with heavy issues with grace and authenticity throughout. Highly recommend, but be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions.

Kate’s experiences losing her husband so young made me cry, but also thankful for the amazing husband I have. I was so swept into this story that I read it in a little over 24 hours.

I knew going into this book that it was going to be incredibly emotional due to the premise of a young woman working her way through the first few years as a widow.  It definitely lived up to that expectation in terms of pulling at all the heart strings and having me wiping tears away throughout the book. The Last Love Note is not a book for the faint of heart as it explores what it means to grieve deeply and to imagine life after the passing of a love one.  However, The Last Love Note also explores what it means to honor the love that you had while exploring new love as well.

I appreciated the thoughtfulness that Emma Grey put into her story around such a heavy topic.  I thought it was done with grace, intentionality, and so much care. I went into this expecting a bit more romance and while I didn't get a lot of the romance, I definitely got a lot of the love.

Pick this up if you enjoyed One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid or P.S. I Love You by Cecilia Ahern.  Make sure to have your tissues ready, you're going to need them.
