Not my favorite book but if you enjoy steampunk you’ll probably really enjoy this book! It’s got a very interesting magic system!

Things I liked:
-I thought the audiobook was quite competent. Dual readers, uses of accents to divide Dragons & Fenthri, pretty good quality. (so if I spell something wrong, it's because I listened to the book! Definitely had a mental spelling of Sevarre for Cvareh)
-WEEEEEEEEEEELL i'm a sucker for a good enemeies-to-lovers (or at least, at this point, enemies-to-struggling to admit they like each others)
-The worldbuilding divide - a world without color & a world bursting with color being the most basic element - is very interesting, visually. I like especially the Fenthri culture- an interesting envisioning of a non-nuclear family, community raising individuals sort of society, and the way the dragons have imposed strict family/guild sanctions on them - & what damage that has done to Loom.
Other things:
-There are a lot of action sequences in this book, and they're often a bit blow-by-blow. But it's usually flash without a lot of emotional weight riding on the answer. The best ones are usually the ones between Leona & Ari, because it builds a lot of hatred & tension and then plays off of that.
-Ari & Cvareh's early relationship is fairly predictable. It isn't until Ari stops threatening to cut his tongue out every few paragraphs that things begin to develop in more interesting ways.
