I don't honestly know how to rate this work, so I'm not going to try. You could call this a graphic novel, but most critics refer to it as a long form poem with graphic accompaniment. It is the most metal thing I've ever seen. This was the artist's last work, and he finished it on the day chosen for his assisted suicide. It is gruesome, brutal, disturbing and strangely beautiful. I think I "get" it, but there's so much metaphor here I'm sure most of it went over my head. Worth a read if the description interests you and you don't mind horror. Find it at your local library or pay big $$ for it.

Finished this only a few minutes after getting home from the library! While it is short, with minimal text the art is breathtaking. The story itself, is dark and beautifully stark. A wonderful and brutal story of the endtimes.

I feel like I would have liked this book a lot more not as an ebook. This one doesn't translate well to a digital format.

Somewhere among the notions of narrative poem, comic, (allegory? No, it's more straightforward than allegory), and picture book this work stakes its territory. It is... gorgeous. It aches itself into me. The final line of text, "Shhh... I am a harsh midwife" chilled me.

Mielenkiintoinen sarjakuvateos niin taiteellisesti kuin taustatarinaltaan. Piirrostyyli ei ollut aivan omaa makuani, mutta sitäkin enemmän pidin juonen taustalla vallitsevista tunteista. Tämä ei varmasti ollut helppo teos päättää pitkä ura.
