i dont think i ever read a book where the main character was so bland it was clearly a mistake to make her the main character

I'm a sucker for a witchy romance so this one was right up my alley! This was a sexy, fun, and very funny story. Great world building and lovable, memorable main characters. My one nitpick is that I had a little bit of trouble keeping track of the women in Delia's family - with a Mom and a Grandmother, maybe there was one too many aunts? But that's a very minor complaint I loved the story, loved the romance - and there was even some intrigue and suspense to keep those pages turning.

As other reviewers have said, I hope this turns out to be the first of a series - I'd love to go back and revisit the witches of Willow Root! (Maybe a romance for Amy next?)

I loved everything about this book. Witches learning how to be witches, solving mysteries, surprise twists, and happily ever afters.

Thank you to Carly Bloom, Hatchette Audio, and NetGalley for an audio eARC of Hot Hex Boyfriend.

Normally I am all for a sweet romance, but this book just did not do it for me. While I found I enjoyed certain parts, I just felt like this southern "charm" of this book was lost on me. The aunts, grandma, and even at times the main character were a bit too sickly sweet for me. So many of their interactions felt fake and forced. I did enjoy the appearance of Max's brother. His brand of comedic relief was on point for me. I often found that just when I was enjoying a certain part of the book, the dialogue would take me back down a peg.

While this may be a great book to some, it just wasn't it for me.

I tried, but the writing and characters just didn't work for me. It sounded like a fun idea, but just wasn't executed well. The characters were very young-behaving, super insta-lovey and annoying.

Witchy magical October read! Loved the families and the best friend.
