I just finished this cute book just in time for release Day and spooky season!! It is a super sweet, cozy mystery with a little closed door romance. I enjoyed it but it did take awhile for me to get into it. I liked Delia's family, they were the best witches. 3.5 stars for me. 4 on the sites that only have a single star rating.
This book got me so in the mood for fall! The small town vibes were so good. Delia was such a great FMC. She was optimistic without being delusional, sweet, and strong. I loved her Grandma and Aunts too. Max and Delia’s chemistry was so good, but I wish it would’ve been a little bit more of a slow burn. The end was a bit abrupt and short compared to the beginning of the book, so I would’ve liked a bit more there. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this! Fun, quirky characters, family and found family, and romance of course!!
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Reading books with witches and magic are not usually my thing, but this book worked for me.
I enjoyed the main characters as well as the many side characters. The banter was fun and the mystery kept the plot moving. The small town vibe helped the story as well.
Overall this was a cute read and perfect for fall reading.
Thanks to @netgalley and @readforeverpub for providing the ARC.
Carly Bloom’s Hot Hex Boyfriend is a charming and enchanting read, perfect for fans of lighthearted, humorous romance with a touch of fantasy. This book is a must-read if you enjoy quirky characters, witchy vibes, and the delightful tension between grumpy and sunshine personalities set against a small-town backdrop.
This novel is delightfully goofy in the best way possible. It's like a blend of Practical Magic and Gilmore Girls. It’s the book that wraps you in warm, cozy feelings, leaving you giggling, kicking your feet, and squealing with joy. The story strikes a perfect balance between romance, humor, drama, and just the right amount of suspense, making it an ideal cozy, witchy read for the spooky season.
Delia's relatives and her friend Amy bring a delightful comedic touch, adding depth and warmth to the story. While I personally would have loved a bit more open-door romance, the low-steam, high-longing approach worked beautifully with the storyline, enhancing the slow-burn tension.
I truly hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of the Merriweather family, the Halifax brothers, or this enchanting magical community. Bloom has created a world that begs for more stories, and I, for one, am eagerly awaiting a return to this spellbinding town.
Big thanks to Carly Bloom, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGallley for the ARC!

- I love a witchy romance, and this book had everything I look for! It was so fun, sweet, silly, and I could not put it down!
- I loved every part of the “they are witches but they’ve lost their magic in a curse but they have continued pretending to be witches and the whole town thinks they’re crazy” dynamic. It was so incredibly fun to watch that play out, between how sweet Delia was towards her aunts and grandmas and how strange the rest of the town thought they were.
- Max and Delia were so great together, and I love the “stuffy MMC who has never felt emotions meets a girl that makes him feel things” trope-this book did that so well!
- The world building was so much fun, and I really hope we get more books in this universe!
- Nicky was my absolute favorite character, and his arc was so surprisingly impactful!!

I devoured this book. And then stopped just short of the third act climax to make it last a little longer. Chuckled, awed, felt the warm and fuzzies while reading this cute paranormal romance. Great pacing and characters. The mystery surrounding the hex on the Merriweathers kept me engaged throughout.

HOT HEX BOYFRIEND IS LITERALLY LIKE IF THE PRACTICAL MAGIC MOVIE WAS TURNED INTO A BOOK (yes I know Practical Magic is a book but the movie is way different 👀) ANDDD IF IT WAS SET IN TEXAS AND THE CHARACTERS WERE SOUTHERN (which I love even more than the setting of Practical Magic because duh)! 🥳😍
As someone who is starting to get into the fall/halloween/spooky vibes, this was PERFECT! There's romance, magic, AND suspense! I love when romance books also have an aspect of suspense and let me tell you, I never would've predicted the ending!
The southern vibes, the kinda enemies to lovers, the personal growth story, the amazing characters (main and side), magic, the really great narrators, and an amazing story made this an AMAZING listen for me!
if you're looking for amazing book with all of the great southern + fall vibes, you should definitely give this book a listen! Thank you so much to Forever Books for an early audiobook copy in exchange for an unbiased review!💖

This is the first paranormal book with witches, where the rules are the traditional rules I grew up with, and I loved that. I loved having the familiar, Nikki, I loved the potions, and everything else that makes magic feel like nostalgia of the childhood stories.
I also loved Delia and Max’s relationship, it was well-written and well paced out for a slow burn romance that is mostly closed door. Their relationship also had a lot of secrets and things that needed to come out through the story that I enjoyed as it brought conflict and emotions.
What I struggled with is the amount of characters, the non-dialogue felt muddled and I couldn’t fully immerse myself into the story. It felt like an over-the-top rom com, which I usually love, but just didn’t connect with this one.
