Wow this is a beautiful book, the illustrations help so much in the telling of the story as well. I haven't read such a powerful book in a long time and I can't wait to see what they do with the film.

I had no idea what this books was, or the impact it would have. It's not a long book, and the illustrations by Jim Kay belong to this story. Unequivocally.

I strongly believe that you read certain books when you're ready for them, or when you NEED them. The same for meeting people who make an impact on your life. I have enjoyed past works by Patrick Ness, but I truly thank him for A Monster Calls.

“You do not write your life with words,“ the monster said. “You write it with actions. What you think is not important. It is only important what you do.”

An interesting way to deal with the conflicting feelings Conor is experiencing while his mother is sick.
