A 13 year old boy named Conor who has a mother who is very sick. Every night Conor gets visits from a monster, which changes his life in many different ways. Throughout the book Conor deals with his sick mother and this monster.

This book was outstanding. So much better than I thought it was going to be and became one of my favorite books. The author is very poetic and it was such a great book. Everyone should read it!!!

Don't hate me, but I didn't love this book. It's very well-written, and maybe if I were in a different mood it would have landed differently with me. I felt like the story was both too convoluted and too simplistic. I felt like the author didn't quite get into Conor's head deep enough to write what a 13 year old boy sounds like, or what his thoughts and feelings would have been. It felt more like an omniscient narrator *trying* to be in his head.

First 5 stars of the year and probably one of the most emotional reads ever. I cannot give this enough praising. There's such a beautiful sensibility in the writing. We all have our inner monsters. Everyone needs to read this!
