3.5 stars. Quite a romantic book (not romance, just romantic writing and scene setting). I loved Sophie and her guardian, Charlie. I would have rated this book higher had the ending been longer. I was disappointed by the ending, it was so abrupt after all the buildup as Sophie searches for her mother. Makes me wonder if her publisher made her end it with a word count, rather than proper storytelling.

Randomly, my book was missing 10 pages in the middle. That was annoying. Publisher error.

I liked the first two disks of this book and then the story became sooooo tedious and boring. It was obvious what was going to happen at the end and I found myself skipping chapters to get to the denouement and then... it literally happened in the last 5 minutes. Such a let down.

Enjoyable story of a girl Sophie who was found in a cello case in the water and saved by Charles, an older man who becomes her caretaker. When she becomes a teen, he’s not deemed to be an appropriate guardian (he lets her wear trousers!). Sophie finds a clue about her birth mother in the cello case, and Charles and Sophie flee to France to find out more about Sophie’s birth mother. There she meets some children who live on the roofs.

This has an old-time children’s classic feel. I loved the interactions between her and Charles. I was less enamored with her interactions with the rooftoppers, but I see the purpose of her finding more found family.

Il finale - e in generale la seconda parte - l'ho trovata troppo affrettata, però è una storia molto divertente e interessante.

Needed a book for a train journey so grabbed this from home. Was okay, very easy to read, but not my thing.

Burvīga grāmata. Skrēju pa jumtiem ar Sofiju kopā. Saskumu par Čārlzu. Uzgavilēju Mateo. Jutos kā viena no jumtu cilts. Arī pieaugušajiem ir jālasa pasakas. Tik ļoti skaistas un neparastas. Ar saldsērīgām beigām jeb saldu jauna sākuma garšu. Grāmata, kuru var izlasît vienā elpas vilcienā, ja ir laiks protams
