I've recently been curious about indigenous languages, and especially curious about Michif in particular. That said, Michif in particular seems to not have very much information available on it on an introductory level, like in the vein of dual language picture books I have come across in other indigenous languages (like Cree and Inuktitut). This alphabet book is just what I was looking for!

I am more familiar with Julie Flett as an illustrator, so I was not surprised that the illustrations here are beautiful. As an adult, I appreciated the additional information at the beginning and end of the book. In general I loved getting to see all these different words and their meanings. As someone who reads picture books out loud, I appreciated the pronunciation guide (although I also appreciated that from the perspective of genuine interest in how to say the words).

I loved this, and it was everything I was hoping for. I hope to see more books like this one in the future. Recommended for all ages!
