This is probably my favorite Cormac McCarthy novel, and my personal recommendation for anyone who hasn’t read one of his works before. The story gets going very quickly if you give it a shot past the unconventional punctuation decisions and the action really never lets up until the very end. Every word of the sparse prose seems carefully selected and makes the writing come alive and keep churning.

I bit of a diversion into a different genre for me. Excellent and at times meditative: why do we do what we do, and can we really ever know or prepare for the unknown that is always just around the corner?
This book would suggest that we can't. But it also seems to suggest that we can try.

The movie is just so excellent I couldn’t help but imagine scenes from it while reading this. Yessir.

Not my cup of tea... at all
I have to admit, I just did not get on with this book at all. I found McCarthy’s writing style frustrating; not just because of the southern style but the lack of punctuation! How many ‘and’s can you put in one unnecessarily long sentence? Personally I found that it just made the book frustrating to follow
As for the actual plot, I found it a little boring, with zero character development. I didn’t care about any of the characters at all. The ending, to me, was completely pointless.
