I see how has this been one of the most palatable Cormac McCarthy novels/film adaptations for people as it has the right amount of gratuitous violence that doesn’t make you sick to read it. It has enough action and storyline to not lose people on the “random” tangents that actually make up the entire impetus of the novel. The world is changing so quickly that it’s really become no country for old men who can’t, or won’t, change with the times and can’t fathom how broken everything has become.

what the FUCK! DUDE! i hated this and im so mad. BIG SPOILERS AHEAD im warning u now !!!

cormac mccarthy is an insanely good writer, there were whole parts of this that i was just completely obsessed with his prose and kept rereading to savour it. within a few chapters it was pretty clear it was written as a screenplay (later confirmed by wiki) and he does this SO. WELL. i felt like i was watching the movie in my head. characters were sick, action was gripping, morality conversation was deep.

BUT. DUDE. what the fuck was that ending. cormac what the fuck. you kill our protagonist out of nowhere, we don’t even get to see it happen ? seriously what kinda decision IS that as a storyteller ???? and then we end on multiple chapters of sheriff bell’s internal monologue as if we give a shit at this point. was it beautifully written? yes. am i still furious? yes! sheriff bell, im sorry honey, but you were by far the least interesting character of our holy trinity (and tbh you were still beat out by carla jean, wells and a random teenage runaway) so your ramblings and war regrets were not what i was after.
seriously what the fuck. maybe the point was that it was all pointless but i still can’t believe moss talked all that big talk and was so badass and then got shot in the face like a noob and we didn’t even SEE IT.
okay i’m mad but will definitely read more mccarthy it’s not over yet cormac i know you’re gonna win me over at some point.

Drugs, m*rder, a mystery. A small town sheriff. Let the chase begin. A classic read, and a good one. I can see why it’s popular. It’s both modern and old-time western all at once. I kept visualizing the old west, until they mentioned mobile phones and it would jar me a bit.

Love the book love the movie!
