I saw the movie first and thought it was excellent. I have to say, I prefer the movie over the book. I forgot about McCarthy's issue with using quotation marks (and sometimes apostrophes), which feels pretentious and sometimes makes scenes confusing. But also I feel the movie tightened up some scenes and made a few changes that made the overall story more compelling. The ending of the book goes on a bit too long with the introspection with me and kind of lost me. But still worth a read it you've enjoyed the movie and were curious about the book.

I'm pretty sure I didnt understand what the book is supposed to mean. It was thrilling and interesting till the end. Different.

A book that takes time and age to truly understand, and at my sorry age of 14 I’m sure I haven’t digested this book as thoroughly as intended. The first three quarters of the story are a suspenseful thriller following Moss and the consequences of his greed, including the ruthless and ominous Chigurh. Bell is McCarthy’s medium, using Bell as a vessel to express his thoughts on aging and younger generations. I tried my best not to compare this book to the movie because both are amazing in their own qualities. Up there in the best McCarthy novels.

Apparently the drug war in Mexico doesn't really interest me. And bc of the way the running dialog was written I had no idea who was talking. Everyone just got shot.
