Very enjoyable listen, characters feel very real and the writing, setting descriptions, dialogue exchanges and all of it add a grounded and authentic texan Americana vibe to this book that i liked.

If you like the movie you'll like the book because they're basically identical, save a few small things. With alot of movie dialogue plucked directly from this book.

Characters complexities and developments are great. This book balances being plot driven and character driven well. Jumps between characters and situations arent jarring and Sherrif Bell's anecdotes/stories before each chapter help ground the purpose of the book well.

I feel like the message of this book will become more and more relatable upon revisits as i get older.

For my first western and first Cormac, it's great. Definitely recommend.
