The male characters in this book are just awful jerks. Kate is supposed to be torn between the two guys I guess, but they come across as creepy, predatory, and they need to understand NO means no. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the book and the audience - it's possible. But even the last line of the book was supposed to be "sexy" left me feeling creeped out - he told her she was going to come over to his house and this time "I will get what I want." Geez. And what I couldn't understand is how Kate kept insisting she was a strong independent woman, but then would let the guys treat her like that, and she'd get swoony over them. Ugh. I guess this book did not age well. I can't imagine it being written in this way in the post #metoo culture.

Anyway, the mystery itself is good and had a satisfying conclusion. If the mystery hadn't been so good I probably would have DNFed it. I'm giving it only 2 stars because that's how much the characters bothered me.

I absolutely loved this book. If you like the Stephanie Plum series, I think you would enjoy this one. Kate is a terrific character that is relatable. She has a mind of her own in spite of her uptight Mormon community. Her mother's car disasters are hilarious and the three sexy men in her life keep things interesting. I like the character interactions and felt the plot was good. I did not predict the killer so I felt like I was constantly kept on my toes. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for more.

I loved this book! It's a fantastic cozy mystery series. I'm glad I already have the next 2 books and novella! I love Kate and her boss Spence as well as potential love interests Drake and Hawke. The town was great. Such a fun book!

This is a fun start to a series that looks like it will be a rollercoaster of fun! I was immediately hooked when I started reading and the hook just sank in deeper and deeper until I had to finish to know whodunit.

Ford does a great job defining her characters. One major thing that really helped me enjoy this was that I found myself getting mad with Kate. To have the reader fall into the emotions of the character shows signs of an awesome writer.

I loved Kate's mother (and as a fan of Janet Evanovich's early works, I couldn't help but think of Stephanie whenever Kate's mother had something happen). I love Kate's tenacity and drive. Also, with 3 hot men who have your back doesn't hurt either...and with that, I say Team Hawke all the way!

I picked this book up from Shelly Fredman's recommendation on Facebook, and I'm happy I did. I have a new mytery series to follow and I look forward to seeing where things go.

If you're looking for a cute, sweet romantic mystery with a strong, sassy heroine this is it.

My kindle kept showing me ads for this one, and the title was enough to draw me in (catchy titles for the win)!

This was an incredibly quick, light read that kept me on the edge of my seat for more reasons than just the mystery (Kate's love life chief among them).

Kate is the editor of a small town Utah paper, and as the former editor of small town paper myself, I can say the author captured this so well it made me super nostalgic. It made me long for the small town I grew up in and went to college in it felt so familiar.
The characters are distinct, but feel like people I knew.

Kate has just returned to her ultra conservative, gossip fueled Mormon hometown to work for the local paper. Not one to follow the rules, she raises eyebrows and rumors as she investigates a tragic, suspicious death.

Kate has the lovable, smart, sassy charm that makes her the perfect lead for this type of series, and her story and, I'll admit her romantic entanglements especially, had me reaching for the next book immediately!

I'm not sure if this is billed as a cozy mystery, but it feels like one. So, if that's your pleasure guilty or otherwise, I think you'll love this!

I'm not usually a sucker for ads, but this time I'm glad I clicked!

Content warning: Religious issues, sex, death, danger, gossip, coffee, misbehaving, potential child endangerment
