Hated it.
Author is extremely condescending.
Lots of references to French authors, songs and general culture which I didn't know.

Interesting book about an interesting topic. Easy to read and follow. It did get a bit repetitive afters while but it is worth a read.
I really love the way Jean said that stupidity is no more than the background noise that allow us to acquire a little wisdom⚖️
Not what I expected, not really scientific, not explained why people are stupid, just that they are and what the patterns are

A fascinating look at how stupidity pervades our world - and ourselves. This series of essays and interviews is forthright, plain speaking, and often hilarious. And credit must be given to the translators, who not only had to deal with the severity and nuance of various synonyms for stupid, but also deal with a frankly surprising amount of 'cursing'. Still, well worth the price to read a well considered and detailed explanation of why Donald Trump qualifies as an "uber-asshole".
The Psychology of Stupidity is a book of essays on the title subject edited by Jean-Francois Marmion. Among the contributers are John Gardner who originated the multiple intelligences theor and Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize winner and author of Thinking Fast and Slow. Most of the essays are not about people who can't think well because of disabilities but about people who could think clearly if they tried but don't. Kahneman in his book Thinking Fast and Slow wrote about two kinds of thinking. He called them Type 1 and Type 2 or fast and slow thinking. Fast thinking is quickly coming to a conclusion without taking time to carefully thinking first. It has it's place, certainly when a driver sees an obstacle ahead she can't carefully take all day to decide the next step, but it is limited. Slow thinking takes time and effort, it's easier to just jump to a conclusion and end the thought there. Most people could be clear thinkers but instead they are stupid, refusing to think at all. Other kinds of stupidity discussed in the essays come from prejudice and selfishness and fear. There is indeed too much bad thinking in the world and it amounts to stupidity.
