Pleasent enough meander around the authors life. A bit funny, a bit wierd. Definitely nature loving. It does have a tendency to flirt which is somewhat off putting. NB if reading on Kindle, the book finishes at 90%.

I really enjoyed this book. Tom Cox refers to it as a genreless book and I agree, and when my husband asked what it was about it was difficult to describe, but it is lovely.

Reading 21st Century Yokel is like going for a long rambling walk with Tom Cox, chatting all the way. He is a lover of landscape and place, taking us around places where he has lived and walked from the Peak District to his current home on the edge of Dartmoor, digressing on the way about the local folklore and wildlife, his cats and his somewhat eclectic taste in music. His anecdotes about his family often steal the stage though, particularly his father, who is larger (and louder) than life. Interesting and entertaining, it will make you want to get your walking boots on.

The best book I’ve read in while - a real comfort read. A beautifully written ode to nature. Just made me want to go out hiking and camping in the picturesque english countryside. Would recommend to anyone looking to fall in love with the simplistic, seductive beauty of the outdoors. Truly idyllic.
